Emmanuèle Perron, Chairwoman of the Corporate Law Cluster

This division aims to simplify the legal and regulatory environment. Listed company laws, public orders, and environmental law are all topics on which it has conducted impact studies prior to the law's passage to measure the consequences and determine which points should be discussed with the government.

It includes two committees.

Economic Public Law Committee
Chairwoman: Sandra Lagumina
This committee ensures that EU directives are transposed onto public contracts and that concessions do not aggravate the corporate balance. It participates in general overviews of environmental law.

Business Law Committee
Chairman: Jean-Pierre Labroue
This committee works to prevent excessive constraints related to business law. It promotes collaborative professional regulations (AFEP-MEDEF code). It increases the attractiveness of the Paris stock market. It promotes the use of preventive procedures for struggling businesses. In the digital domain, it sets a common strategy for businesses.

Simplify the legislative landscape.

INTERVIEW of Emmanuèle Perron

The Corporate Law Cluster covers all the legal issues related to companies: business law, public bidding, competition, consumption, environment, contract law, commercial courts, etc. It is divided into two committees and several committees led by a group of five legal experts. The division deals with all the topics that govern business law and public commercial law. But it tries to go beyond following a huge stack of legislation and protecting the interests of companies. It also works to recommend and set structural reforms in motion, anything from simplifying the legislative landscape and developing alternative legislation (mainly through concerted business regulations like the AFEP/MEDEF Code of Corporate Governance) to strengthening protection for intangible company assets by introducing civil and criminal protective provisions on business secrecy into French law.

The Corporate Law Cluster also actively contributes to reforming the consular justice system, with no intention to undermine the founding principles, and plans to take an active role with the Public Realm Cluster in bringing disparate worlds together, particularly in terms of judicial authorities.
Lastly, it is helping develop a business-friendly doctrine by publishing articles and speaking about it at colloquia and with opinion-makers.

Medef position on Brexit

The French and British economies are intricately linked. Our primary trade surplus is with the

United Kingdom. Around 400 000 French people work in the UK. Every sector, each individual

company, has specific and unique interests regarding Brexit. Everything possible must be done in

the forthcoming negotiation to avoid lessening the quality and the strength of this relationship.

French companies must continue to be able to trade with the UK without supplementary costs or

restrictions. A level playing field must be ensured so that French companies can continue to invest

and create jobs.
